Harvey Weinstein found guilty for second time on rape charges

Former Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of raping a woman.

The court in Los Angeles, California sentenced the 70-year-old to 24 years in prison.

The Oscar winner is currently in New York serving a 23-year prison sentence for similar crimes.

Weinstein was found guilty on Monday of rape and two other counts of sexual assault against a woman, known as Jane Doe 1, whose name has not been released to protect her anonymity.

More than 80 women have accused him of sexual misconduct.

Allegations reported in 2017 contributed to the founding of the #MeToo movement, which has encouraged people around the world to share their experiences of sexual harassment and assault.

Weinstein has produced several popular films, including "Shakespeare in Love," which won the Oscar for best cinematography in 1999./REL
