Arrest warrant for Putin/Borrell: This is just the beginning

The International Criminal Court in The Hague (ICC) today issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of war crimes in Ukraine.
There has been a strong reaction from Russia for this arrest warrant. It was the former Russian leader, Dmitry Medvedev, who strongly opposed the court's decision.
Through a status on social networks, Medvedev described the arrest warrant as "toilet paper".
"The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant against Vladimir Putin. There is no need to explain where this letter should be used," he writes.

Meanwhile, another reaction was that of Vladimir Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov. In a statement to journalists, Peskov said that he does not know the Hague Court or its decisions.
"The question itself (raised by the ICC) is scandalous and unacceptable. Russia, along with several other states, does not recognize the jurisdiction of that court and thus any decision of this kind for Russia is invalid from a legal point of view", he declared, while refusing to speak further on the matter.
Meanwhile, so far there has been no reaction from Vladimir Putin himself./ CNA.al
