Abortion Case/Texas Supreme Court Makes Unexpected Move

The Texas Supreme Court blocked a lower court order that allowed clinics in the state to continue performing abortions after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned an earlier ruling in 1973. that offered constitutional protection to abortion.

It is not yet known whether clinics in Texas, which resumed performing abortions just days ago, would suspend their services following the decision late Friday night. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for later this month.
