Deutsche Post permanently discontinued its telegram service

Before Deutsche Post shut down its telegram service, thousands of people took the opportunity to send one last telegraphic message at the end of the year. On December 31 - the last day before the service was cut - 3,228 telegrams were sent to the Federal Republic of Germany, Deutsche Post reported. By comparison, in previous years between 200 and 300 telegrams were sent each month.

"I'll arrive on Saturday, 8pm, Grandma"
