EU promises more financial aid to Ukraine

The European Union will offer Ukraine another 2 billion euros in military aid.

This is how the EU Foreign Ministers agreed at the December 12 meeting.

This aid comes at a time when fierce fighting continues in eastern Ukraine, as Russian forces continue attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

In the eastern regions, Russian forces continued their attacks on Donetsk and Luhansk. Airstrikes have been reported in Kostiantinivka and recently liberated Kherson, the Ukrainian military said on December 12.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian army said that in Luhansk, Russian forces "continue to use residents as human shields, deploying military equipment and positioning themselves near residential buildings, where the civilian population lives."

Continued Russian attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure have caused major power outages and left millions without power.
