Another denunciation of the Municipality of Tropoja has arrived at the editorial office of CNA.

The denunciation was made for the deputy mayor of the municipality, Zyra Islamaj, who is currently performing the duties of Rexhë Byberi, who is under house arrest on charges of abuse of office for two road construction projects, causing a damage of 277 million lek to the state budget. .

On 31.10.2024, the deputy mayor of Tropoja Municipality, Zyra Islamaj, has sent the salary supplement for Tropoja Municipality to the Municipal Council for approval.

Islamaj has proposed a maximum salary of 240,000 lek for the mayor, a mayor who is under house arrest and is accused of abuse of office, like Rexhë Byberi, and for herself she has requested an additional salary of 185,000 lek per month.

This request comes at a time when Tropoja Municipality is one of the 10 municipalities with the largest debts and one of the poorest municipalities.

Documents have also arrived at the CNA editorial office, where the whistleblower shows that the Municipality of Tropoja does not pay its debts.

Debt stock repayment schedules are drawn up and then postponed and never repaid.

The documents show that until June 2024, the Municipality of Tropoja has 45 million new ALL in debt.

According to the denunciation, the graph was drawn up for the repayment of only 38 million new leks of debt, but a good part is not reported because it is hidden by the deputy mayor so that the Ministry of Finance does not take over the Tropoja Municipality.

The additional fund required for salaries is 146 million with which the municipality would pay off half of the obligations.
