The acting Mayor of Tirana, Anuela Ristani, shared today a detail of how public transport in the capital is expected to function in the future.

In a television appearance, Ristani indicated that three new lines dedicated to electric buses will be created for citizens.

Regarding the ticket price, Ristani explained that there will be no increase at the moment.

"We have two main directions that we are working on, that of improving the current lines that are contracted according to our distribution plan and the work that we are doing with our German partners for a dedicated bus line. With funding from the German government and with the contribution of the knowledge of the Municipality of Tirana, there will be 3 dedicated lines where the bus lane will be physically differentiated from the rest of the traffic where it will enable much faster transport than private cars. The buses will be fully electric and the 3 lines will be new and will be a combination with the existing lines of Tirana. The infrastructural preparation work is intensive and includes an intervention in the current road that will make the difference. The price increase and the service improvement go together, so there will be no ticket increase for the time being as long as we systematize everything, and the ticket will become electronic and the payment will be made non-cash as is done in all countries of the world.
