"SPAK independence in the fight against crime and corruption"/ Draft

The European Commission has compiled a draft report on the rule of law, signed on June 9.

In the draft report that discusses the justice system, the most highly rated institution is SPAK.

According to the European Commission's draft report, the Special Prosecution Office continued to consolidate positive results in the fight against corruption.

The draft report also states that SPAK displays a sustainable strategic vision and is independent in its contribution to the fight against corruption.

The European Commission says in a draft report that despite increased political pressure and organized crime groups, SPAK continues its anti-corruption fight.

“ SPAK continued to consolidate its positive results in the fight against high-level corruption, although some shortcomings remain in terms of staff and infrastructure. The Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) and the courts against corruption and organised crime have delivered positive results in investigating, prosecuting and adjudicating corruption cases, including those involving politicians and high-ranking officials, as well as in protecting the EU’s financial interests. SPAK demonstrates a sustainable strategic vision and independence in its contribution to the fight against high-level corruption, despite increased pressure from political, organised crime groups and the media. The continuous increase in the workload for SPAK and the lack of staff and infrastructure continue to be issues that need to be addressed. The number of referrals to SPAK from other authorities has further decreased and remains low ,” the draft report states./  CNA
