The most prominent figure of Albanian volleyball, Kreshnik Tartari, passes away

Kreshnik Tartari, one of the most prominent figures in Albanian volleyball, has passed away at the age of 83, leaving behind a great legacy as a player, coach and sports director.

He is particularly remembered for his work with the Dinamo women's volleyball team, which he transformed into a dominant force in Albanian and regional volleyball.

Under his leadership, the team won 11 consecutive championship titles and 20 in total, also achieving a ranking among the top four teams in Europe twice, a rare achievement for Albanian sports at that time.

Born in Tirana on July 21, 1943, Tartari also contributed as a volleyball player with Dinamo and the national team, being part of a golden period of this sport in Albania. For his contribution, he was honored with the title of “Grand Master”.

Tartari is considered one of the main architects of the historic success of Albanian women's volleyball and a name that has left a strong mark on the sport./ CNA
