Danger in the Çemerica reservoir, flows increase significantly/ Dam at

Intense rainfall has significantly increased the flow into the Çemerica reservoir, in the Lekas ??Administrative Unit of the Korça Municipality. Residents of the area are raising the alarm that the water level in the Marjan Hydropower Plant basin has reached a critical point, risking the dam breaking.

Due to the worsening situation, local authorities have appealed to residents of the villages of Lekas, Xerje, Denas, Marjan, Gurrëmujas and Fshati i Ri to immediately report any problems or signs of danger.

Meanwhile, as images taken during the day and into the evening show, field teams are continuing their work to clean the riverbed and reservoir, to reduce pressure on the dam and avoid an emergency situation.
