The Mayor of Elbasan, Gledjan Llatja, during an interview for Euronews Albania, stated that the incinerator in this region is not functional, because the repair phase is being carried out.
Llatja said that the landfill is being used for burning waste.
" Currently, we have started the repair, we are in the repair phase. There is a periodic annual overhaul moment. Since it was received, it turned on, it started working, now we are preparing, we are in the repair phase. Repair means, it is like taking the car to service.
It is currently off, all staff are at work, all minor systems are being overhauled. The plant is being used to burn waste, the plant is not just the incinerator.
