Gjirokastra is covered in garbage/ Residents: The situation is alarming

In the city of Gjirokastrê, such a sight is sad. Waste is found everywhere in the neighborhoods, roads that cross the city. The situation is more serious in PRERENJ, where tons of waste are deposited there, becoming a danger to the community.

This stream is located in Zinxhira neighborhood, a neighborhood that has been left to the mercy of fate by the local government in Gjirokastër. Most of the garbage cans are damaged and many others have lost their function like this container seen in these pictures.

In these conditions, residents and businesses have found a solution by throwing garbage into the stream. The residents themselves say to CNA that the situation is alarming, while they also blame the unresponsive residents.

The municipality of Gjirokastra has left this neighborhood in oblivion as there is no recreational space for the elderly, children or young people.

3 years ago, the Municipality was committed to taking drastic measures for polluters, but to date no fines have been issued for environmental pollution. /CNA
