40 drivers arrested / Tirana's road causes 'havoc', hundreds of fines for mobile phones and seat belts

The Traffic Police of Tirana informs that during the past week, a total of 40 drivers were arrested and criminally prosecuted for committing various violations of the Traffic Code.

Also, the Traffic Police of Tirana dealt with 5 cases of attempts to bribe police officers, with the aim of avoiding the administrative measure for the offense committed, thus bringing the number of cases of attempts to bribe police officers to 131. from the beginning of this year.

As a result of the dedicated controls, 2 cases of driving under the influence of narcotics were identified and punished, bringing the number of drivers found to be under the influence of drugs to 46, after testing with the AquilaScan device, during this year.
786 vehicle drivers were punished with administrative measures for using mobile phones while driving.
497 drivers were punished for not wearing a seat belt.
2,025 drivers were punished for wrong overtaking, dangerous maneuvers on the road, speeding over the permitted rate and other various violations.
92 driving licenses were suspended, for driving under the influence of alcohol or in a drunken state, as well as for speeding over the permitted rates.
248 administrative measures have been imposed for failure to wear protective helmets by motor vehicle drivers.
3 pairs of unregistered or expired license plates in the country of origin were removed, bringing the number of license plates removed since the beginning of this year to 397./CNA.al
