World Cup changes plans, championship towards postponement

Spain's qualification to the World Cup semi-finals has created difficulties in planning the new La Liga season.

The Spanish championship is scheduled to start on August 14, but the regulations of the Spanish Footballers' Association guarantee 21 days of mandatory rest for players between two seasons.

Initially, it was thought that only the Barcelona-Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid-Real Sociedad matches would be postponed, due to the high number of players gathered at the World Cup.

However, the success of the Spanish national team has forced the organizers to reconsider the plan. The Celta Vigo-Osasuna and Atletico Madrid-Malaga matches are also at risk of being postponed, as some players from these teams are still part of Luis de la Fuente's team.

The Valencia-Betis or Sevilla-Rayo Vallecano matches could also be affected.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has admitted that there is a possibility that the entire first week of the championship could be moved to August 26 or 27.
