Diabrotica Vergifera insect

Diabrotica Vergifera is the insect that is damaging the crops of farmers in the Maliqi field, mainly corn.   

Festim Kupe is one of the farmers most affected by this type of insect. He planted about 60 hectares of corn while now he has to spend more to fight this pest.

"This has damaged the root at the very beginning, now it cuts the mustache of the corn and there is no pollination. Now the damage is only when we reap it, because we don't even know. I have planted about 60 hectares, almost 80% is damaged", he says to Euronews.
