Prime Minister Edi Rama is participating today in the "Berlin Global Dialogue" forum in Germany. Rama said that Albania has had a good year in terms of European integration, where he said that 5 out of 6 group chapters have been opened.

He said that currently there is a commitment from Europe to bring the Western Balkans region closer to the European Union. Rama further described the Western Balkans as the navel of the European Union.

"We have had a good year if we put it in the context of Europe. Over the last 11 months we have opened 5 out of 6 group chapters. We expect to open the sixth group chapter. Europe is smarter than before. Unfortunately, it took Russian aggression to wake it up. Now the deeds are showing that there is a genuine commitment to bring the Western Balkans closer to the EU, and not only from the Commission.

"I'm not sure that everyone has a clear understanding of the EU map. In the history of maps, the EU is the only geographical and geopolitical reality that has two borders. The EU has two borders, one external and one internal. And on the internal one we are. We are the navel of the European Union. I believe that for all the good reasons, the EU needs the Western Balkans as much as we need it ," Rama said. /CNA
