The Traffic Police has increased measures in order to prevent road accidents from the very high flow of vehicles towards coastal, tourist areas and large residential centers.

The Blues have been conducting intensive monitoring, using smart speedometers, polyscans, automatic radars, high-end drones, dredges and telescopes.

As a result of monitoring on all road axes, during the past week, 154 driving licenses were suspended for speeding above the permitted rates, for driving under the influence of alcohol/in a drunken state, and for traffic in the opposite direction;

The police arrested 41 drivers for driving while intoxicated and for driving without a driving license.

Also, 24,231 administrative measures have been imposed throughout the country, of which:

- 6701 for speed exceeding the permitted rates;

- 1014 for using a mobile phone while driving;

- 1306 for not using the seat belt;

- 2357 for wrong passings;

- 267 for not wearing a protective helmet;

- 117 for dangerous maneuvers on the road;

- 201 for driving under the influence of alcohol;

- 10034 for wrong parking;

- 2234 for other violations of the Traffic Code.

Furthermore, during the past week, the Traffic Police of Tirana have dealt with 2 cases of attempts to bribe Police officers, with the aim of avoiding administrative measures for the detected violations.

The Traffic Police appeals to all drivers of vehicles and motor vehicles, to strictly implement the rules of the road, to stay in line when there is a slowdown in the movement of vehicles in cases of traffic, to use alternative roads, to give preference to pedestrians and not to make wrong passes or dangerous maneuvers in urban centers and national axes.

Also, for truck drivers to strictly implement movement restrictions during the weekend and official holidays.
