US winter storm/ Americans and Canadians without power on Christmas Day

More than a million Americans and Canadians were left without power on Christmas Day after being hit by the winter storm.

A "bomb" cyclone, when atmospheric pressure drops, has brought snow, strong winds and low temperatures.

Nearly 250 million have been affected and at least 19 people have lost their lives. Thousands of flights have been canceled over the festive period. The western US state of Montana is hardest hit by the cold, with temperatures dropping to -45 degrees Celsius.

In the northeastern New England region of America, there have been floods, which have also caused a power outage.

 Even in states like Florida and Georgia there are warnings of low temperatures and the presence of frost. .
