The "Katargate" scandal/ The European Parliament removes the immunity of two deputies

After the echo of the "Qatargate" scandal, the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament decided to lift the immunity of two deputies.

It is about MPs Andrea Cozzolinos and Marc Tarabella, legislators involved in the "Katargate" scandal, thus paving the way for the final vote by all MEPs on Thursday.

Adrian Vasquez, the Spanish legislator, wrote on the social network "Twitter" that the commission voted with 23 votes in favor and none against, for the two cases in question. Parliament should revoke the legal privilege enjoyed by MEPs so that Belgium can investigate and potentially charge lawmakers.

The request to waive immunity came after accusations of bribery and money laundering.
