The Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has reacted through a long status on social networks, to the tragedy in Tempe where two trains collided causing 57 victims.

Mitsotakis has apologized to the families of the victims, on behalf of all those who have led the country.

“Si kryeministër i kam borxh të gjithëve, por mbi të gjitha të afërmve të viktimave, një falje të madhe. Si personalisht, ashtu edhe në emër të të gjithë atyre që drejtuan vendin prej vitesh. Sepse vërtet në Greqinë e 2023-shit nuk është e mundur që dy trena të lëvizin në drejtim të kundërt në të njëjtën linjë dhe askush nuk e ka vënë re”, shkruan fillimisht Mitsotakis.

“Nuk mundemi, nuk duam dhe nuk duhet të fshihemi pas gabimit njerëzor”, shton kryeministri dhe thekson se “nëse do të kishte përfunduar projekti i Telekomandimit, ky aksident do të kishte qenë praktikisht i pamundur të ndodhte”.

"I will immediately ask the European Commission and friendly countries for their help in knowledge, so that we can finally get modern trains. And I will fight for additional community funding to maintain and rapidly improve the existing network. Finally, I will propose to all parties that a Special Commission be set up in the next Parliament to investigate the most painful tragedy that happened on the Greek railways in the last twenty years. What has not been done for so many years must be done now and quickly", wrote Mitsotakis./ CNA.al
