Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to address a global summit for the first time since the Wagner mercenary group's uprising.

Leaders from China, India, Pakistan and four Central Asian countries will be part of the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization" summit.

The summit, which this year is chaired by India, is taking place two weeks after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was hosted by US President Joe Biden for a state visit.

The core of the talks of this summit are regional security, economy, food security, climate change and Afghanistan are some of the issues expected to be discussed at the meeting.

Above all, many analysts believe that this summit will serve as an international arena for Putin to show that he is still welcome and heard on global platforms, despite his military aggression against Ukraine./ CNA
