The Police of Kosovo announced on Wednesday evening that it has received reports from officials of the Democratic League of Kosovo about the existence of plans for assassinations against senior officials of this party.

"The Kosovo Police, in this case the competent department, has taken all the necessary police actions related to the case/threat in question. All further police actions will be undertaken in cooperation and coordination with the justice authorities", says a police announcement, but without any details.

Nënkryetari i Lidhjes Demokratike të Kosovës, Kujtim Shala, gjatë një debati në Radio televizionin “Dukagjini” tha se për këtë çështje janë informuar nga një agjenci zbulimi në Bashkimin Evropian.

“Mund të konfirmoj që jemi informuar për këtë çështje për një lloj planifikimi dhe lloj njerëzish të lidhur me organizata në Kosovë dhe disa shtete tjera të Bashkimit Evropian dhe jashtë territorit të Evropës, individë që kanë rënë në përgjime të një prej agjencive inteligjente kryesore të vendeve të Bashkimit Evropian dhe nga ajo që na është thënë ne del që ka pasur një plan të strukturuar për këtë gjë”, tha zoti Shala.

Mr. Shala said that according to the information, the assassination threats have political motives from a wide network of people.

"I can confirm that there is a network of people in Kosovo, in several countries of the European Union, and it is claimed to be two organizations, one of which is claimed to be operating in Kosovo, the other outside Kosovo, and that organization operating outside Kosovo has undertaken to finance the execution of this plan", said Mr. Shala, underlining that he cannot give more details.

The local media said that in addition to the chairman of the LDK, the threats were directed against former Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and MPs Arben Gashi and Armend Zemaj.

The Democratic League of Kosovo is the oldest political entity in Kosovo, currently in opposition./VOA
