The majority of Albanians think EU membership is distant

Despite the positive opinion about the European Union, Albanian citizens think that our membership will not be imminent.

Thus, in the latest findings of the Euronews Albania survey, it appears that more than 70 percent of them have no hope that this process will happen in less than 10 years.

Data Centrum explains that 26.4 percent of respondents think that we will join in the next 5 years, but this level of optimists is followed by 28.8 percent who think that this will not happen before 10 years, 13 percent give 15 years time until membership, 12.9 percent think it will take more than 15 years. While 14.4% think that we will never join and 3.9% do not know.

However, the majority think that we are closer to the EU compared to 3 years ago (36 percent), 33.3 percent think that we are just as close, and 28.9 think that we are further away from the EU in the last 3 years, which can be understood as steps behind in this process.

Another important data and interesting finding is the citizens' disagreement with the expression that "the EU does not accept Albania because it has a Muslim majority...".
