KLP accepts ILD's request for disciplinary proceedings against the

The High Prosecutorial Council (KLP), in the session held the day before, accepted the request of the High Inspector of Justice (ILD) to impose the disciplinary measure "Public reprimand" against magistrate AK, prosecutor at the Prosecutor's Office of the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Korça.

The measure was requested by the ILD for violations of the provisions regulating the organization and functioning of the prosecution, as well as for violations of the rules of confidentiality and the prohibition of the dissemination of information related to an ongoing or completed investigation.

This proceeding came after the review of the previous decision of the KLP, dated October 2, 2025, by which the request of the ILD for the imposition of a disciplinary measure against the prosecutor was rejected. After the ILD appealed, the Administrative Court of Appeal accepted the claim, leaving the KLP tasked with reviewing the request for disciplinary proceedings again.

According to the ILD's investigative report, prosecutor AK signed documents without having the relevant competence, and also issued and sent copies of documents to third parties that were part of the file of a case still under investigation.

According to the ILD, these actions have bypassed the authority of the head of the prosecution, have damaged the institutional image of the prosecution body and have created a risk to the progress of the investigation.

Also, the publication of procedural acts, as noted in the ILD's investigative report on the CA, may negatively affect public trust, as the prosecution acts in accordance with the law and not on the basis of the individual will of the magistrate.

During the review of the case, the ILD again requested the KLP to accept the request for imposing the disciplinary measure “Public reprimand” against prosecutor AK, for the disciplinary violations provided for in article 102, point 1, letters “g” and “j” of law no. 96/2016 “On the status of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania”, as amended.
