"Unacceptable and offensive to the victims of war"/ Hoxha reacts to

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, has reacted through a response on the "X" platform regarding the statement of Serbian Minister, Snezhana Paunovic, on ethnic cleansing in Kosovo.

Hoxha described the statement as unacceptable and insulting to the victims of the war.

He stressed in his response that normalizing crimes against humanity undermines reconciliation and that the region's European future can only be built on truth, responsibility and respect for the victims.

Full reaction:

The statement by a member of the Serbian government, publicly expressing regret that even greater ethnic cleansing has not been carried out in Kosovo, is unacceptable, shocking and a grave insult to the victims of the war.

The relativization and normalization of one of the most serious crimes against humanity, crimes condemned by history, by international justice and by human conscience itself, contradict the values ??on which today's Europe is built. They undermine efforts for reconciliation and cooperation, feed mistrust and hatred, and reopen wounds that have not yet healed.

No one can build trust by bringing back the darkest shadows of the past, much less by glorifying policies and figures who bear responsibility for tragedies, suffering, and crimes that have left deep marks on the history of our region, such as the "butcher of the Balkans."

The process of normalization and reconciliation, which Kosovo, Serbia and our entire region so desperately need, requires, above all, responsibility, reflection and courage to confront the past.

It can never be built on statements that justify or glorify the policies that brought so much pain and destruction, but only on the truth, respect for the victims, and sincere commitment to a common European future. /CNA
