The Socialist Party has refused to set up 8 commissions of inquiry, requested by the opposition with the claim that the investigations of the Parliament may damage the investigations of the prosecution.

But the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, rejects the claim of the Socialist Party.

In an interview for "Ina Media", Dumani says that the investigations of the two institutions differ from each other.

"The investigative, parliamentary commissions have a different purpose and function from the investigation carried out by SPAK, which is of a criminal nature. The standards of proof of the criminal process are higher and the procedure followed for filing an accusation is much more rigorous", he said.

The head of SPAK stated that "in every case the criminal investigation is independent", while emphasizing that both parties can cooperate.

"The Special Prosecutor's Office has been and is attentive to the investigations carried out by the parliamentary commissions for those criminal offenses that are under its jurisdiction", further underlined Dumani./ CNA
