Trump nominates US ambassador to the EU/Who is Andrew Puzder?

President Donald Trump has named Andrew Puzder, the former CEO of a fast-food corporation, as his choice for U.S. ambassador to the European Union, in his first days in office, during which he has announced a series of appointments.

"I am pleased to announce that Andrew F. Puzder will serve as the next United States Ambassador to the European Union. Andy is a successful lawyer, businessman, economic commentator, and author. Andy will do an excellent job representing our nation's interests in this important region," Trump said.

Andrew Franklin Puzder, born July 11, 1950, is an American lawyer, author, and businessman. He is the former CEO of CKE Restaurants, the parent company of Hardee's and Carl's Jr., a position he held from September 2000 to March 2017. He was previously a commercial trial attorney in private practice from 1978 to 1995, handling many high-profile cases. Puzder is a frequent commentator on economic and political issues./ CNA
