Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a speech in Moscow where he attacked the West regarding the war in Ukraine.

According to Putin, the West is fueling the conflict and also waging an economic war.

He vows that the West will not be able to successfully achieve his goal.

Sanctions imposed on Russia by various countries are punishing themselves, Putin claims, pointing to rising prices, business closures and the energy crisis.

"They blame the Russians for everything," he says.

Continuing the economic theme, Putin says he wants to build a secure international payment system that will reduce dependence on the West.

"We must not repeat our mistakes. We must not destroy our economy."

He says that Western sanctions designed to harm the Russian people have not succeeded and claims that the share of Russian rubles in international transactions has "doubled"./ CNA.al
