Bosnia can conditionally receive the status of a candidate for EU membership

The European Commission has the possibility to conditionally recommend candidate status for Bosnia-Herzegovina, several sources in Brussels have told Radio Free Europe.

The EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, will present the enlargement package on October 12, together with the reports separately for each Western Balkan country.

Sources within the EU have confirmed that the European Commission will recommend that Bosnia-Herzegovina be given the status of a candidate country for membership in the European Union, but with some conditions.

Këto kushte besohet se datojnë nga viti 2019, kur Komisioni Evropian ka prezantuar qëndrimet e veta lidhur me gatishmërinë e Bosnjës për të fituar këtë status.

Në raportin e Komisionit Evropian për këtë vit – sipas dokumentit që ka parë Radio Evropa e Lirë – Bosnja nuk ka shënuar përparim në fushat kyçe.

Vlerësime të ngjashme ndër vite janë konsideruar arsye pse komisionarët kanë qenë kundër dhënies së statusit të kandidatit për Bosnjën.

Paketa e zgjerimit duhet të miratohet nga Komisioni Evropian më 12 tetor, duke përfshirë presidentin dhe nën-presidentët e këtij institucioni.

Viteve të fundit, në BE nuk është diskutuar shumë që Bosnja të fitojë statusin e kandidatit për anëtarësim në BE.
