Talks with Trump/Zelensky departs for Florida today, expected to meet European

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will fly to Florida today for a meeting with his US counterpart Donald Trump. The pair will meet tomorrow for peace talks and a possible path to ending the war in Ukraine.

On his way to the US, Zelensky will stop to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. He will also meet a number of key European allies this afternoon.

Zelensky's trip to Florida comes after at least one person was killed and 28 others were injured in overnight Russian airstrikes in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.

The attacks damaged critical infrastructure, while the mayor of Kiev said that 4,000 residential buildings in the capital are without heat due to damage to the power supply system.

Images from the Ukrainian capital show tall buildings ablaze and damaged, as emergency services work to clear the rubble.

Zelensky writes that the offensive is proof that Vladimir Putin's teams do not want to end the war and seek to use every opportunity to cause Ukraine even greater suffering. /CNA
