A large-scale fire broke out during the day on Monday in the village of Osmënzeze in the Sinjë Administrative Unit. The fire is said to have been deliberate and spread rapidly towards the hilly area planted with olive and almond trees.

18 firefighters from Berat, 6 from Police and numerous police forces have gone to the area to make it possible to put it out.

But the difficult terrain has made it impossible to introduce firefighting equipment towards the fire area and therefore it was worked with circumstantial equipment and backpack water pumps.

 

Due to the dry vegetation and the wind, the fire was in danger of spreading to the houses in the village, so the firefighters worked first to eliminate the danger to the houses and then to put out the many fires spread in the area./ CNA
