Opposition protests/Korreshi: Expression of citizen anger over thefts committed

Democratic MP Saimir Korreshi commented today on the protests held by the Albanian opposition.

In a television studio, Korreshi described them as an action that is essentially an expression of citizen anger over the theft committed by the government.

"The action was an expression of citizen anger and not part of an organized scenario. The participation in the protest and the involvement of family members and women is an indicator of the importance of the event. Citizens protested for the "theft committed by the government" and not for political individuals. The police reaction was excessive and illegal, using tear gas and pepper spray against protesters without any provocation, harming unarmed citizens. No one threw Molotov cocktails or attacked the police, while some of the means thrown were only fireworks towards the prime minister's office. The arrest of over 20 protesters is illegal. This cannot violate the right of citizens to express their anger", said Korreshi./CNA
