DP MP Jozefina Topalli spoke in Parliament regarding the changes to the Penal Code. Topalli said that the new changes will punish citizens who double-park on the street with prison sentences, not corrupt officials who steal millions of lek.

The MP also spoke about the arrests after the DP protest, saying that these actions are only taken by a government that has emerged from non-free elections.

"According to the law in this parliament, we will sentence to prison those citizens who double park. We do not punish corrupt officials, we keep them in office. After the protest, a 10-year-old child was detained. Young girls and boys who found the courage to protest against this corruption were put in prison. A disabled woman with a cut on her head was put in prison. Silence can only exist in countries that are afraid. The protest was a cry against fear. Only the powers that emerge from non-free elections, do not have dialogue but have violence. Only the powers that are mired in corruption arrest 10-year-old children. Only rotten powers do what you did after the biggest protest in recent years, two days ago," said Topalli. /CNA
