"This country does not love the youth"/ Xhaferri: Rama tried to poison

Democratic MP Besart Xhaferri commented extensively today on Saturday's protest called by the opposition in front of the Prime Minister's Office.

Invited to "Syri TV", Xhaferri stated that young people are not satisfied with the governance in the country and that only through revolt and protests can they achieve the overthrow of the regime led by Edi Rama.

Regarding the use of expired tear gas, Xhaferri described it as an attempt by the prime minister to poison the protesters, similar to the former leader of Syria, Bashar al-Assad.

"A state has become that does not love the youth; it wants patronage, it wants servility, it wants these policemen. And the policemen were young, this is the greatest shame: a youth that arrests the youth without doing anything. They are not policemen, they are servants of this regime and they will be held accountable as servants of this regime. Therefore, I apologize, perhaps to the public, because it was a moment of heat, but the term I used is true: that's how they are.

Without including the expired gas. Three years expired. I can accept one month, but three years? It is genocide. You are trying, like Assad, to poison the people, not only the protesters, but the entire area of ??Tirana where there are residents. People have been poisoned. We do not know what the health consequences will be, but we have taken on this cost and it no longer matters.

Youth must continue to live. Let's not be hypocrites because they are in cafes or clubs, they have their right. But there are many idealistic and revolted young people who will join. The revolt is growing exponentially. Even if they do not go out to protest, in those cafes where they are sitting, there is talk about the protest, about the problems, about the daily troubles.

Our task is to become the link, the medicine that unites them and leads them towards the popular revolt to overthrow this regime. No young person is happy in this country anymore. None. Not even the patronage workers have enough money to make ends meet.

Good governance brings back the youth. A government that governs well brings them back, as happened in 2006–2010. The opposition calls for a return, but the youth will only return when they have hope. Those who left have made their absolute protest by leaving.

To the young people who remain, we say: make your protest with the departure of Edi Rama. Don't leave, let Edi Rama leave. Let him flee to Russia as an asylum seeker, and you stay in your lands, in the land where you were born. Those who have fled have committed the most painful act against themselves: they have left their parents. Being separated from their parents for life is the greatest pain," said Xhaferri./CNA
