Chaos in the Assembly/ Minister Balla warns of prison for opposition MPs

The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, in a post on social networks, has published a video of the chaos created in parliament today. 

Balla has emphasized that the serious acts committed by the opposition MPs have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office and that no MP can avoid the law. The minister underlines that the opposition MPs risk being sentenced to up to 5 years in prison. 

"The Criminal Code clearly defines in articles 151 and 154 the criminal acts of intentional destruction/damage of property by fire and other means, which are punishable by up to five years in prison. While these serious acts have been repeatedly referred to the Prosecutor's Office , the prosecution institution must guarantee that the law applies equally to everyone and the deputy can never evade the law, benefiting or hiding behind immunity", said Balla. 

This Monday's plenary session in the Assembly lasted only 16 minutes.

In the middle of the mess, the tension of the fight with the opposition, the Speaker closed the plenary session. As in other sessions, there were tensions caused by the opposition.

MP Flamur Noka lit flares in the Assembly as well as papers, causing the hall to be engulfed in smoke and flames.

Speaker Lindita Nikolla expelled him from the session before closing it. Prime Minister Edi Rama was not present in the Assembly./ CNA
