The Director of the Institute of Municipalities, Agron Haxhimali, commented today on the steps taken so far in the work on territorial reform.

Speaking to "Syri TV", Haxhimali stated that after conducting 10 public hearings, this process of consultation with citizens and experts is nearing its end.

According to him, the existence of concerns and complaints from citizens about the system and services offered by this reform is an indication that at this moment, larger-scale action is needed to build a state for the citizens.  

 "We have finished the meetings and hearings in 10 regions of Albania. There are still hearings to be held in the Tirana region and the Korça region, I believe it will be closed next week. So we are approaching the end. Each of us has taken notes, has listened very carefully to the various interest groups, political and non-political actors, citizens, civil society from all voices, which as a whole, if I summarize it, it turns out that they are very concerned, they have many complaints. So we are in such a situation that 35 years after democracy and especially this last decade, Albania leaves much to be desired. From my point of view, I am saying it, there is a need for a very big shake-up, there is a need to build a system, a state architecture that is a state for the citizens and not a state over the citizens", - said Haxhimali./CNA
