Albania is not endangered by communism, but by corrupt politics

On December 8, 1990, the first protest began, which gave a push to communism that was bankrupt economically and politically, but was afraid to surrender itself. After it had fallen throughout Eastern Europe and after the Ceausescu couple had been executed by the people in Bucharest, in Tirana, no one thought about staying in power, but how to save their heads.

And yet, December 8 is the day that marks the beginning of the uprising that overthrew communism…. history has already been written.

But today, 32 years after December 1990, to call down communism again, or to "remember so that history does not repeat itself", seems to me very naive.

Shqipërinë nuk e rrezikon aspak komunizmi sot. Sepse edhe sikur Enver Hoxha dhe e gjithë shpura e tij të ringrihen nga varri, komunizmi nuk rikthehet. Komunizmi kishte 25 vjet që po eksperimentohej si model politik dhe ekonomik kur Shqipëria iu bashkua.

Dhe ishin rrethana të tjera historike e gjeopolitike, jashtë vullnetit dhe mundësisë së shqiptarëve, ato që përcaktuan se në cilin bllok do të bënte pjesë Shqipëria pas Luftës së II.

Sot Shqipërinë nuk e kërcënon komunizmi, por korrupsioni!

Sot nuk janë komunistët armiqtë e Shqipërisë, por politianët, zyrtarët që vit pas viti e qeveri pas qeverie, po e zhvasin këtë vend e këtë popull, duke e detyruar të braktisë, në një largim me përmasa historike, vendin e tij.

Ndaj ta harrojmë komunizmin, edhe sikur të duam ne, ai regjim nuk rikthehet, sepse ajo ishte ideologji e përbotshme e s’mund ta ringjallim ne.

We must fight today the corrupt politics that are harming this country even more than the communists.
