Journalist Fatjona Mejdini recounted her experience in Ecuador and the interviews she conducted regarding the group of Albanians operating there.

Invited to the "Opinion" show, she said that the city of Guayaquil, where she had stopped, was not a safe city, while she pointed out that the Albanian groups there were especially exposed because of the murders that happened among them.

Excerpts from the studio interview

Mejdini: Albanians there have gained equal security.

Fevziu: Where did they get it from?

Mejdini: Ecuador is a very corrupt country, with many problems. From the discussions we had, it's easy for them to bribe the cops with $20. They even told when they crossed the border with 20 or 30 dollars, without checking what loads might be there.

Fevziu: Are they visible people, do they frequent public places?

Mejdini: No, they try not to do this. What has exposed them are the murders that have taken place. If there were no murders, we would not be talking about the Sicpats in Ecuador. Because Albanians are not only in Ecuador, they are in Peru, Bolivia, Mexico. The Albanians of Ecuador have been exposed.

Fevziu: How many Albanians were there?

Mejdini : About 300. /CNA.al
