A 37-year-old Romanian woman has been extradited from Germany to Albania.

The Romanian citizen was sentenced in 2022 by the Tirana Court to 5 years in prison.

She is facing charges of computer fraud, where she is suspected of having obtained 33,500 euros by deceiving through fictitious emails.

The Romanian citizen, who benefited from around 33,500 euros by deceiving representatives of an Albanian company through fictitious emails, is being extradited from Germany.

Following the cooperation with international partners, with the objective of locating, capturing and extraditing citizens declared internationally wanted, the procedure for the extradition from Germany to Albania of the Romanian citizen, Aurelia Bratianu, 37 years old, was finalized.

She was wanted internationally because the Tirana Judicial District Court, in 2022, sentenced her to 5 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Computer Fraud".

During the period March-April 2019, she benefited from around 33,500 euros after defrauding representatives of an Albanian trading company in the field of buying and selling vehicle parts, by sending them emails from accounts with credentials very similar to the credentials of the accounts of the company's associates abroad.

The unraveling of this computer fraud scheme was achieved thanks to close cooperation between the Albanian Police and the United Kingdom authorities./CNA
