Offered money to avoid a fine for the phone/ 28-year-old man in Durrës is

A 28-year-old man has been criminally prosecuted after offering money to avoid being administratively punished for using a cell phone while driving.

The vehicle was stopped on Customs Street, where citizen EH, a resident of Tirana, attempted to give money to traffic officers.

Proceedings have been initiated against him for the criminal offense of "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions".

During a patrol with the objective of preventing accidents and punishing violators of road traffic rules, the Durrës Traffic Police services stopped a vehicle on Customs Street, driven by citizen EH, 28 years old, resident of Tirana, who was caught using a mobile phone.

To avoid administrative action for this violation, he offered the police officers a sum of money.

At the conclusion of the procedural actions in this case, proceedings were initiated against the 28-year-old, for the criminal offense of "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions".

The procedural materials were referred to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
