5 illegal citizens hidden in trucks/ 2 arrested at the Port of Durres, one of

Two citizens were arrested at the Port of Durres for hiding 5 Albanian citizens in the trucks they were driving, who were intending to illegally leave the country.

One of the citizens hiding in trucks, internationally wanted, sentenced to over 7 and a half years in prison, for theft in Italy, committed as part of a structured criminal group.

Trucks, identification devices and cell phones are seized.

Police Announcement:

As a result of detailed controls at the entry/exit of the Republic of Albania, on citizens and the vehicles with which they move, as well as as a result of the rapid and professional administration of information obtained in operational ways, the Border Police services of the port of Durrës finalized the "Rolet" operation.

As part of the operation, citizens G. Xh., 48 years old, and EB, 45 years old, both residents of Tirana, were arrested after 5 Albanian citizens were found hiding in the trucks they were driving, at the exit of the Republic of Albania.

From further verifications within the framework of this operation and from the exchange of information between the homologous structures of Interpol, in Tirana and Rome, it resulted that one of the 5 citizens who intended to illegally leave the country, specifically the citizen Indrit Lleshi alias Ibrahim Lleshi, 34 years old, born in Dibër, was internationally wanted, because the Court of Ancona, Italy, in 2024, sentenced him to 7 years, 6 months and 9 days of imprisonment, for the criminal offense of "Theft", committed within the framework of a structured criminal group. The 34-year-old was provisionally arrested, with the aim of extradition to Italy.

The procedural materials were referred to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
