The UN Security Council began an emergency meeting this Sunday, called by Iran to address US attacks on its nuclear program.
In an opening statement, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities by the United States marks "a dangerous turn in a region that is already shaking."
The Security Council holds an extraordinary session under the agenda item "threats to international peace and security" on the developing situation in Iran.
Present are UN Secretary-General António Guterres; Miroslav Jena, Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas in the Departments of Political Affairs and Peacebuilding and Peace Operations; and Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). /CNA
