Trump to CNN: Cuba will fall soon, after 50 years of communism

US President Donald Trump said today in a telephone interview with the American media outlet 'CNN' that the Cuban regime will fall very soon.

According to Trump, Cuba is finally ready for this change, after 50 years under communist rule.

"Cuba is going to fall very quickly, by the way. They want to make a deal, so I'm going to send Marco (Rubio) there and we'll see how that works. We're really focused on that right now. We've got a lot of time, but Cuba is ready, after 50 years," Trump said.

A day earlier, Trump said at the White House that it is only a matter of time before Cuban Americans can return to their country of origin, implying that this is the next issue on the administration's agenda after the ongoing war with Iran. /CNA
