Trump: Sending US ground troops to Iran is a waste of time

United States President Donald Trump stated that sending American ground troops to Iran is not currently in his plans, describing such an action as a "waste of time."

In an interview with NBC News, Trump said that Iran has already suffered major losses.

"It's a waste of time. They've lost everything. They've lost their navy. They've lost everything they can lose," he said.

Trump also commented on statements by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who had earlier told NBC that Iran is prepared for a ground invasion by the US or Israel.

The US president called this statement a "useless comment".

He also added that he wants changes in Iran's current leadership, saying he would prefer the country to have better leadership.

"We want them to have a good leader. We have some people that I think would do a good job," Trump said, without mentioning specific names./ CNA
