Israel-Iran War/ Newly appointed Iranian Chief of Staff Assassinated

Israel has said its overnight strikes killed Iran's chief of staff just days after he was appointed to replace a commander killed in previous strikes.

"The Israeli Air Force struck a manned command center in the heart of Tehran and eliminated Ali Shadman," the IDF said in a statement.

Iran has not yet commented on Israel's claims about Shadman's death.

Shadmani took office on Friday after Israel's initial strikes on Iran killed several senior commanders, including his predecessor, General Gholam Ali Rashid.

Rashid and Shadmani had led the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, a unit that coordinates between the regular army and Iran's Revolutionary Guard.

The IDF statement said that "in his various roles, (Shadmani) directly influenced Iran's operational plans targeting the State of Israel."/ CNA
