Iran denies firing missiles at Turkey

The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has issued a statement denying that any missile was fired towards Turkey, which yesterday said NATO defenses shot down a missile from Iran as it entered its airspace.

"The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran respect the sovereignty of the neighboring and friendly country, Turkey, and deny any missile launch towards the territory of that country," the Iranian military statement, carried by the Iranian Mehr news agency, said.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the missile approached Turkish airspace after flying over Iraq and Syria.

President Erdogan said Turkey was taking all necessary precautions in consultation with its NATO allies and issuing warnings in the clearest terms to prevent similar incidents from happening again./ CNA
