Russian missile attack killed 28 people and injured 142 others/ Zelensky visits

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today visited the Solomianskyi neighborhood of Kiev, where a Russian missile attack the day before killed 28 people and injured 142 others.

One of the deadliest rocket attacks in recent months hit Kiev late on June 17, destroying a residential building and killing at least 28 people.

The high-explosive rocket destroyed an entire section of a nine-story apartment block in the Solomianskyi neighborhood, from basement to roof. Dozens were injured and more than 140 people across the city were affected as rockets and drones hit multiple areas, damaging homes, schools and kindergartens.

Rescue teams worked for more than 39 hours, pulling survivors from the rubble before efforts shifted to recovery.

On June 19, President Zelensky visited the country, meeting with emergency teams and pledging support. He thanked Ukraine's partners for their continued support and urged them to increase pressure so that Russia "feels the true cost of war." /CNA
