The "Railway Transport" program had 4.1 billion ALL of expenses last year, or about 40 million euros.

The official data of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy show that the overall spending plan was 90% of the initial plan.

As for the financed projects, it seems that most of these expenses have gone to the investment being carried out in the rehabilitation of Tirana-Durra and the new extension of the railway in Rinas.

The funds that went to this project are 60% of the total and are classified as investments with foreign funds.

"Rehabilitation of the Durrës - Tirana passenger thermal line and the construction of the Tirana - Rina 1 railway line, planned for 2023 in the amount of 1.78 billion lek and the investment in the amount of 1.35 billion lek or 75% has been realized.

The rehabilitation of the railway line Durrës - Termali Tirana and the construction of the railway line Tirana-Rinas2, planned investments for the year 2023 in the amount of 1.25 billion ALL and financing in the amount of 1.15 billion ALL or 92% has been realized.

The supervision of the works "Rehabilitation of the railway line Durrës - Tirana and the construction of the new railway line to Rinas Airport", planned for the year 2023 in the amount of 75,000,000 ALL and has been financed in the amount of 45,000,000 ALL or 60%" is stated in the summary of budget report.

Another project that has been financed by foreign funds is the one for the design of the preliminary project Rrogozhinë - Pogradec - Lin (Border with North Macedonia) planned for the year 2023 in the amount of 81.6 million allek and the financing was realized in the amount of 52.4 million allek or in the amount 64.3%.

Works on the construction of the Tirana-Durres railway began in November 2021, when the relocation of the old tracks also began. The company that is implementing this project is INC spa, which was declared the winner in 2020, with an offer of 69.7 million euros.

The reconstructed Tirana-Durres line will pass over the old line, while the Tirana-Rina part will be added, a completely new railway line.

As for the stations from the Albanian Railway, it has been confirmed earlier that the existing stations will continue to remain in the same locations, while the new stations will be on the new axis from Domje to Rinas Airport.

At the beginning of March, the Albanian Railways announced the opening of the procedure for the construction of stations along the new line that is being built and that in several exits from the government representatives it has been stated that it will be completed within this year./ Monitor Magazine
