The municipality of Tirana intends to create dedicated lanes for the city transport service on some main streets of the city as well as rehabilitate the stations in the central area. A procurement procedure opened this Tuesday with a limited fund of 129 million lek or 1.2 million euros has as its subject the contract ""Construction of dedicated bus lanes on several road axes, the solution of the Kastriotet junction and the rehabilitation of bus stations in the area central of Tirana"

In the documents that accompany the procedure, specifically the technical report, the ways in which intervention will take place are also underlined. "The creation of infrastructure for the extension of lanes dedicated to the city transport service on some main streets of the City, the optimization of urban bus stops and their computerization, as well as the reconstruction and urban requalification of the intersection, in order to improve the quality of life of the community of the city of Tirana.

The project for the implementation of dedicated bus lanes on several road axes includes the following roads:

- The middle ring (from the "Bryl" intersection to the "Vasil Shanto" bridge on both sides of the river

"Lana").

- Of "Kavaja" (segment from "Mustafa Qemal Ataturku" square - intersection with "Ibrahim

Rugova" )

- "Muhamet Gjollesha" (segment from "Vasil Shanto" bridge - "Karl Topia" square)" the document says.

It also provides for the rehabilitation of the stations that include the 3 corridors of the city's public transport lines as well as the area around the center where the concentration of travelers and the demand for transit is greater:

– "Kinostudio Kombinat" line

– "New Tirana" line

– The line "Ring

"The roads are mostly in good condition. There is repairable damage to the asphalt in some segments where there are currently parking spaces for vehicles. According to the design task, the network of water and white and black sewers is functional and in good condition. Information boards for citizens are missing in urban stations. In the absence of a lane dedicated to buses, we have delays in their frequency, traffic, their overflow. It is also necessary to rehabilitate the green crowns along the segments of the project, the collection site for urban waste and the dividing/protective element of this lane, suitable for avoiding "tire jumping", the document says./ Monitor magazine.
