Vlora Airport/ Albcontrol starts recruitment for the necessary staff

The International Airport of Vlora, which is expected to be completed at the end of this year and to enter into operation next year, has raised the need for the preparation of the necessary staff even from the state-owned companies related to aviation.

Albcontol, which essentially manages and controls the Albanian airspace (FIR), according to international air navigation standards, recently announced the necessary recruitments to complete the staff as a result of the increase in the number of airports in the country.

Specifically, regarding the International Airport of Vlora, Albcontol announced the filling of positions with 6 engineers, 7 ARO specialists and 7 METEO observers, where the main requirements are a first-level diploma in engineering sciences, electronic engineering, telecommunications, computer science, ICT, informatics , Mathematics, Physics, and Natural Sciences as well as English language as a second condition. Recruitment will remain open until the end of this month.

During an annual analysis, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure also provided details on the performance of the Vlora airport just the day before.

"We are waiting for the completion of Vlora, an airport that is at 32 percent of the total works, but those parts that are more important and hold the largest volume have progressed much higher than the general progress. We intend in December 2024 to have handed over the Vlora airport, giving the opportunity to the Aviation Authority, the concessionaire and the operator, which is the Munich airport, to start shadow operations to validate every procedure and navigation equipment, with the hope that in the spring of 2025 we will have the flights the first from Vlora that is not a seasonal but an international airport," said the minister.

At the beginning of 2021, the government announced the winner for the Vlora Airport concession with an investment offer of 103 million euros, which included two companies Mabco Constructions SA of the investor Behgjet Pacolli and the Turkish partner YDA Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret. In December 2022 Mabco took full control of the shares.

The government has applied for the missing traffic guarantee for this project.

According to the documents made public at that time, the guaranteed income in the basic scenario for the first 10 years of operation is predicted to be 9.6 million euros in the fourth year, 10.3 in the fifth year, 11.2 for the sixth, 12.1 for the seventh and so on. with a culmination of 18.6 million euros in the thirteenth year from the signing of the contract.

In total, the guaranteed income should be around 138 million euros. The contract foresees that the airport will be completed in 2024. /Monitor
